A bit of brighter light …

01 Jan

Yesterday I looked up, and saw that the sun was peeking through the (seemingly) interminable grey cloud cover (the Northern Midwest, the Great Lakes region). The region is known as one of the cloudiest on the planet, so sunlight is noticed. Brighter light definitely calls for a photograph. I got a couple that were worth posting:

But the light changes fast, especially from a sky like that, and as I adjusted for a closeup, the warmth of the sunlight went away, never to return. So I took the closeup anyway … here it is:

Well, there they are, folks … Enjoy, if that’s the word!

Take care, all … and Cheers!

That’s what makes you such an interesting photographer. You exploit the natural light and have a perception of what is good and what isn’t.

There’s little chance of me ever taking several photos of an icicle and making each of them as intriguing as the other.

Nice shots. I really like the close-up,been if the sky isn’t as blue.

Yup–that’s what happens when typing on a phone and not carefully checking it. Thanks dW.

    Happy New Year!
The less number of fine day place in Japan is Mt. Tanigawa where the number of the climbing victims is the worst in Japan, too. I went to the foot of this hundreds-men-eater mountain only once not to find it in the cloud. Your district is peaceful. haha.

      Thank you, Sam …
Staying away from that mountain sounds like a good policy.

Well, I’ll say happy new year here, too! Looks like you’ve been back awhile!

Nice ice. I do wish you the very best this new year.

I know the feeling of dashing for a photo in those rare moments of sunshine (although it’s been very pretty here in the UK for the last couple of days). The patterns of ice and shadow on the icicles are intriguing. All the best for 2016.
