Three of no consequence …

These were just pics in the camera … not much to them, but I thought I’d post them anyway.

This first is of a wall-plaque sort of thing that was my daughter’s. It’s on my wall, now. I don’t know who it is supposed to be, but as she was a Buddhist, we might as well say it’s a head of the Buddha.
I guess.
Anyway, I was running some focusing tests on the Oly, and this happened to catch my eye.

I actually rather like it, and not just because it was hers … for one thing, the colours harmonise nicely with that part of the room, and it also seems to have a serenity of expression that I find pleasant.

This one was strictly a picture of opportunity … I was riding by and the sunglint on the water was incredibly bright. I made a couple of shots of it, and this is the best one. I can see now that there were some editing errors, and if I ever fix ’em, I’ll post that one here, too. But this is what I’ve got now, and it’s not all that bad:

Well, I just reworked the editing on the one above, and here it is, if I can convince this dippy software to post it:

And this one is the only one of a batch where I was trying to capture the sunlight on these trees … it’s the only really acceptable one; I was fighting sunflares all the time, and this one didn’t have them. More by good luck than good wit, I reckon.

Nothing else … we’ve been having dull grey everything lately, and the weather most inclement.
Cheers, all!

‘Twas a misty, moisty morning …

… and cloudy was the weather.
And that’s about as far as the analogy goes … no old men clothéd all in leather, or anything else. I was out doing a few errands with ye olde Oly strapped on, and ran into a few interesting things:
First, there was a bunch of adult Canada geese sharing babysitting duties of a lot of youngsters:

And then a few closeups of an ornamental bush growing outside my door … I think it’s some variety of privet:

You can definitely see that it was moisty, if not misty.

And so indoors … to warm up and dry out.

Cheers, all!

A couple of morning visitors …

Sorry for the quality; they were pretty far away, and I had to hurry:

That’s it; they were in a hurry, and so was I.

Some odds and ends, gathered over the past few days …

A common-enough occurrence; you get a few days where things are rather muddled. You’re busy with one thing and another, and you never really go out with the aim of making photographs. Still, if you’ve learned anything from this business of photography, you have learned that pictures present themselves at the damnedest times, and if you haven’t got a camera handy, you don’t get the pictures. Sounds simple, but it’s easy to forget in the hustle and bustle of ordinary life, and most of us do, at one time or another, and regret it.

So … here are a few pictures that I’ve picked up as I was doing a bit of nothing in particular … certainly not with the idea of going out to “find pictures”. Captions/comments as they seem necessary.

First, a few of a mated pair of wild turkeys … they were hanging about the town waterworks, why, I don’t know, except that it’s a semi-wild area, with precious little intensive “civilization”. The jake was sticking like glue to the hen, presumably to fend off any competition or danger. I’ve seen him display when provoked, but I don’t have any shots of that. First, the hen:

He was about three feet behind her, watching her eat. Here he is:

The lighting was dreadful; please excuse any glitches in the colours; I’ve done my best to get things right, but it ain’t easy.
I drove up a ways to turn around and get the car into a good position (I was shooting from inside the car, so as to avoid any chance of upsetting them), and by the time I got turned around and back, the male was more secure that his lady was safe (she was still there, eating, but he seemed less nervous) and he was lying down, if that’s what it’s called. Here he is:

I’ve looked, since taking these, but I haven’t seen them. I don’t think they’ve met with trouble, but it must be admitted that if anyone came by who had a .22 pistol in the car, he could have stocked his freezer for the fall.

Now I must announce that my son has finally got his gumption up to move out of his girlfriend’s apartment and into some sort of decent habitation. In the couple of days that I’ve been helping him, I kept the camera handy. The first day was rainy, which gave me this tree, seen through my windscreen:

I rather liked it.

The next (and I hope final) day, I spent a good deal of time hanging about in the alleyway behind the house he was leaving, waiting for stuff to be brought out to stow in my car. I began looking around for miscellaneous pictures. These are what I’ve worked up, so far … if I get any more worked up and presentable, I’ll add them.

The weather was changing …

“You’re being watched” … a rather threatening section of fence:

And a bit of ivy on an older section of fence.

Well, maybe it’s grape, but I’ve never seen fruit on it.

And I reckon that’s about it … hope you enjoy them.
Cheers, all!
