These first few are the beginnings yesterday of the big storm that's burying the Great Plains and Midwest last night and today … a typical "Panhandle Hook", it comes ashore as rain (and plenty of it!) in southern California, moves eastward to around the panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma, then hooks northeastwards, picking up a BUNCH of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, carrying it northwards to … US! It comes down as snow. After the big snow is over, it turns bloody cold as the Low passes us and brings down the winds from the Arctic. Sounds bad, but we get used to it.
Kinda.
Sorta.
The next ones are from a few years back; it was a warm, wet snow with big ol' flakes, and was really pretty. I just opened the kitchen window ("HEY!" from the living room) and leaned out to take these. I managed to capture some of the falling flakes, which is unusual.

I like to see a bit of snow (not too much though!). All we are getting in England is cold wet weather. I prefer bright frosty days.

The photos are great. Love that first one. This storm is what passed through my city Sunday night, I think it was. About 11:30pm we were blasted with 70 mph wind and rain. The wind was very unusual. We usually get the high winds during the summer monsoons. Nothing torn up in my neighborhood but a few trees were blown down in other areas. I love it when it rains here because we get it so seldom.

Snow is so pretty and white in the countryside. But it's not so pretty in the city, where it quickly turns brown and slushy and yucky. I like your snow pics!

Thank you, thank you, thank you … Beware, Pam … you've got more coming! My two Lesbian sweeties in L.A. say that there are about three more of these stacked up in the Pacific track, heading for them … I reckon we'll know about it soon enough. We've got wind chills here of –20°F (~ –29°C) today … I said we were on the cold side of the Low, didn't I?

Knowing this planet's propensity for doing exactly what one doesn't expect, I'm surprised that you're not getting whiteout conditions and –40° (both scales) temps.
