Since I’m becoming more interested in photographing the interior of my apartment, I thought it might be interesting to show a few of the plants I have growing ’round my livingroom window. I like plants, and they seem to like me … they call me when there’s some need that’s not being met, and they thank me for my attention to them.
I know that sounds rather daft, but there it is … I believe all sorts of rather queer things, indeed, and I’m fairly open about them.
Being virtually in the window, they present some contrast problems, and they are excellent subjects for playing with the light. That said, there’s nowt to do now but show them …
There they go, a massive quietness, not perceptible here, seems to accompany them. I like to just go near them, and bask in the peace that they seem to radiate. I hope you can sense it, too … enjoy!

Not weird at all. It’s calming to be around something green and alive. 🙂

I think the same as you when it comes to plants. They really do bring a sense of peace and quietness. Would have some inside where I live but no place to put them, unfortunately. Someday. I like the contrast in these pictures a lot. Their shapes are interesting to look at. Almost abstracted in a way. Had a few succulents outside for a few months but the rascal feral kittens dug them up and made a mess on my carport.

Next time, try succulents that are more often classified as “cacti” … the pointy kind, with sharp little needles … the cats will leave them alone.

Very nice, dW. I especially like the second photo. Plants add a lot to a room, at least the healthy sort. Our lovely hydrangea seems to give me a soothing something or other (on the outside of the window). I can see why you find these peaceful/peace-lending.
(I won’t disrupt things it by telling you about a family friend we’d visit when I was a child. I’d busy myself counting her house plants- over 100. This would be anything but peaceful I think; especially if one really would want to keep track. Oh dear, there I said it. Just forget I did 😀 )

I’m a bit late here, summer usually brings a lot of hiking for us and I try to stay away from a computer as much as I can 🙂
I was never much into photographing plants and flowers but you don’t know, some day I might start doing that too.
Looking at your photographs, one thing came to my mind, something written by Pablo Neruda:
“Green was the silence, wet was the light,…”
This is what it feels like 🙂

Thanks, Dare … I’ve been wondering how you’re doing.
The Neruda seems appropriate for your section of the world.

Hi, Sweeties … it’s nice of you to drop by … I’d email you, but my regular email is temporarily kaput … AT&T wanted me to change PWs, and I bungled it halfway through, so now I have to wait for a snailmail from them to give me a security code. Ain’t technology grand?

I’m looking to get into a little indoor gardening myself, having only done it outside before now. Can I ask, do you have many problems with the attraction of insects thanks to the plants?

Not really … occasionally one gets an infested plant, but if it is kept away from the others until the problem is solved, usually no harm results.

Ah, thanks for the info. Every time I talk to someone who grows plants inside (beyond the occasional gas station pot) it turns out to be weed. Same principles I’m sure, but that admission takes the conversation from casually talking about gardening to discussing technique with the locals dealers.
