What between my health and the dreary weather …

18 Dec

I haven’t been getting around much. I haven’t been doing an awful lot of anything except sleep. I told the doc, and he said “Fine; that’s pretty much what you’re supposed to be doing.” So I haven’t been feeling too guilty about not being more active, though I have noticed that I seem to have a touch more energy than I have had for a while.

The weather has been beastly … not all that unpleasant, mind, but pretty uniformly dull grey … not in the least interesting; in fact, actively boring. Typical of weather in this area at this time of year, actually … it’s known as one of the cloudiest places in North America.

BUT … I did get one rather interesting exposure, and, having so little to work with, I “fiddled” with it a
bit. So here it is; the first as taken, and the second I “duotoned” it a bit:

And that’s about it … I must say that I appreciate you folks hanging about and asking how I’m doing … it’s comforting to know someone cares, for one thing … and also appreciate feeling a bit more alive, however dreich the weather’s been. (I especially dislike it when it’s very damp and above freezing. It’s a nightmare getting the car to start.)

An other very nice post. I like both of the pictures. We have got the very same grey as in the first picture. You have done a nice job as usual. I like both of the pictures very much

I actually like the top photo best, dW- but that affords more grey. It’s been cloudy here most of the week- I’d grown so accustomed to it that I didn’t even notice the bright sunshine on Wednesday until someone else called my attention to it! So in the dreary mode that I don’t even notice the sun.

I hear you about starting the car! One day was what I called “shuddering cold.” I love the snow blanketing things, it’s the slop and/or the freeeeezing stuff I can do without.

I do hope your days get increasingly brighter, in all ways. ❤

There’s little worse than relentlessly grey, dank days, but that’s a nice sky you caught there. Weather here is actually not bad. Mild and some sun, which makes a change. Hope things brighten up for you soon.

Thank you, Rania. Sometimes a “down” mood can be as good as an “up” one.

I feel the strong will and energy to walk forward in your words and sentences in spite of the awful gloomy weather photos you took. It gives me energy to stand up from the worst full-time flu I’ve experienced since 2000. Though the weather has been very cold but very fine during I’ve been in bed, today, very very cold rain fell. I stepped out and took some shots and uploaded four articles and pictures on my WordPress blog. Without your blog, I surely had spent in bed all day
I wish the hell season would end soon and you would recover good health soon!

I like the composition of the photo, with the strong, dark, abstract shape at the bottom, then it sort of bursts out with the trees and branches. I like the first one too.

Cloudy and gloomy is the same here. It is so strange not to see snow here in Fargo in December. The locals are even shaking their heads. It snowed lightly a couple of times. Had one or two very cold days, below zero, then weeks of 30 plus degrees, even a 40! This isn’t going to be good for the farmers I’ve heard. Especially if it doesn’t snow much more. Something about the ground deep down being too dry. Well, I should keep my mouth shut. We could get blasted in Jan and Feb.

Farmers always are bitching about some conditions. It’s one of the perks of the job. Don’t take it too seriously until they really get a disaster.

Oh, don’t the days seem lank and long
when all goes right and nothing goes wrong?
And isn’t your life extremely flat
when there’s nothing whatever to grumble at?

Hi DW, I haven’t been here fo a while and I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t been well. It sounds like your weather is much like ours – we’ve had a few frosty days, but mostly it’s been grey, rainy and muddy. But I like the brooding grey of the photos.

By the way, I’ve moved my blog to .
