A Few odds and Ends from the Last Month or so …

13 Nov

Not much on any especial theme, or anything like that, but when one carries a camera, one finds pictures. They call themselves to one’s attention, now and then, so they get downloaded, and the better ones get published, as here.
Not much commentary … here they are:
A couple of shots on a cloudy day, shot from the roof of the local hospital:

And a couple of shots in the hospital itself:

I was fascinated by all these angles in the stairway area, contrasting with the traditional architecture of the tower, a block away:

Anyone want a bookmark?

And, on another day, as I was sitting in the car down by the water, a few things called themselves to my attention …
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Perhaps a little explanation is in order here; this vessel is, according to my best estimate, about 25 miles offshore … the ability to use the full 504mm of this camera’s zoom lens allowed me to make this shot. I’ve done very little cropping; here’s the full frame, no crops, no corrections:
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
And a few details of the local area:

Well, there you have it … or them … anyway, take ’em for what they’re worth … enjoy!
Cheers, all!

Maybe, this is strange to some people. I really love the photos inside the hospital for the shadows on the walls from the window frames. Those types of shadows have a strange resonance with me.

That’s a pretty powerful lens. What are you using?

The title of the movie was in Cyrillic, if memory serves … Charles Bronson, I think.

The camera is what they call a “compact DSLR” … they do not have interchangeable lenses. Instead, they have extreme zooms, which stay on the camera. Mine is the Olympus SP-550UZ, which has a zoom range of 28mm=>504mm. It’s some 7 0r 8 years old, now, and there are better ones available, with greater zoom ranges and more doodads. Many of the later ones lack viewfinders, which makes them unusable by older people.

That’s a pretty impressive zoom. I’m firmly in the camp where if it ain’t got a viewfinder it ain’t a camera. Apart from anything else it’s so much easier to keep them stable when they’re planted on your face.

        Nice shots of the hospital.

All so very nice pictures as usual. I enjoy them very much.
We have constant rain every day so I have not been out for a while with the camera

You are right; I very seldom take pictures of buildings. But sometimes I find a building that demands my attention.
