A few en passant, as it were …

21 Oct

Last weekend, my cousin, whose basement they’re in, decided she wanted her basement back, so we put on an Art Show-cum-Sale of my dad’s paintings in the fellowship hall of her church.
No, I’m not going to put up pictures of that; perhaps some other time, but I did manage to grab a few shots of the local fall flora (My, doesn’t that sound elegant! “Flora”, yet! Wow!).
Anyhow, here they are; as little comment as possible:
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA A rather interesting multi-colour tree, I thought … lovely shape.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA This is not “The Last Rose of Summer”, but I’ve seldom seen a rose this size (about 2½ inches) in a tight ball like this. It would appeal to “The Four Macs”. If you don’t recognize “The Four Macs”, look them up … a group of Arts and Crafts artists in Scotland; the most famous being Charles Rennie MacIntosh.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThese things are called “teasels”, I think, but I don’t really know anything about ’em, except I like ’em.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Some simple shots of Fall colours and sky.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I don’t know what this is, it’s sumac-colour, but it’s not sumac … the leaf-shape is wrong, and the plant is a wee little bushy thing, about 24 inches tall.

Last one … a closeup of the leaves. I couldn’t get the camera to see the light as coming through the leaves, and my Photoshop skills are not up to the task. Oh, well …

Thanks, folks … and Cheers!

Good that you have some nice weather to see all that beauty. We have a rain for almost two weeks now and all the colours are fading in grey. I am afraid we will lose the opportunity to enjoy in them this year…

Well, I reckon you pays yer money and ya takes yer choice … that’s the kind of climate you have in that part of the world … it’s “temperate rainforest”, and it has lots of good points, too.
Where I am, we get a few days like this, but we pay for it with some of the cloudiest winters, let alone other seasons, in the world.

The tree in the forst picture is amazing. Over here it is gone. We are waiting for snow.

Thank you Eva … it’s happening here, too, but we haven’t had much wind and rain together … that really strips the trees.

The fifth, eh? Thank you, Rania; it’s just outside my back door.
I haven’t decided about putting my dad’s work up … MyOpera’s “Albums” were so much more convenient to upload a lot of things, but I haven’t mastered this software yet.

It’s all lovely as always! By the way, my apologize for deactivated my ipernity account, I was disappointed that my account ended up with all kinds of internet virus. Anyway, I’m still here and be able to post a comment and see you’re amazing blog and pictures. 🌅:)

I really hadn’t noticed that you had deleted, Zena … people sometimes spend long periods between posts, and I thought that’s what you were doing.
