Looking through my files …

22 Jan

… I was filing all the shots from last year, and ran across this; it hadn’t been worked up, and was almost black (a night shot). So I shoved it into Photoshop, clicked one button, and got this:

I was bowled over by these colours; I hope you’ll like them, too.
Take care on the slippery walks and roads …

Thank you, Eva … the colours were a big surprise to me; it’s sometimes a real lesson to realise what our cameras can see.

It actually look like one of the photographs from Instagram. Must have been cold that night, eh?

Yes, although I don’t think it was as cold as it is this year (the photo was taken last February). The original was nearly all black … I suspect that these strange colours are the result of what might be the digital analogue of reciprocity law failure.

Yeah, software enhances and saturates pixels that are not black. But it helps getting a nice results sometimes

“What the camera can see” – yes. It’s good to look at the world through the camera’s eye sometimes, and great picture to end up with too.

Thanks, Adele … have you been really quiet, or am I not getting notifications?

I’ve been quiet 😦 Weather stopped photography is the short version. But I managed to get a post done today and will do more soon – rain, storms and the odd tornado permitting…

Interesting photo, that. Yes, that must have been mighty cold when you took that shot.

Cold enough, for certain, but not as cold as tonight, by half.

Beautiful. And potentially deadly to passersby.
