He greets me as I come in each time, after I’ve been out ( swear he’s been waiting in front of the door), gets in the way and after he’s satisfied himself that it’s all very routine, he goes to sleep.
He’s really rather scruffy-looking, having long hair that knots up into big balls … he dislikes it intensely when I cut them off, necessitating a big thick towel, and sturdy gloves.

Yes, truly a gorgeous cat. One of my son’s cats, a female named Sophie, didn’t like the hair balls being cut out either. Nor did she like being brushed which would have helped in keeping away the hair balls. Her fur was a bit longer and we thought she looked like a Main Coon cat. The sweetest thing till she saw the scissors or a brush in your hand.

The worst of it is that those balls and lumps and knots MUST be uncomfortable. You’d think it would be a relief.

He’s a very pretty cat, especially for a boy. How old is he?

A youth, I think would be an appropriate expression. Cats live faster than we do.
If you’d like to see more, there’s an album on the my old MyOpera blog called “The Cat Grows Up”, covering his first year. It’s here:

And no, I haven’t figured out how to move the albums yet.

Well, he really loves the camera. What a model! It seems that he’s looking at me…and me only. 😀

Red. I like that.
My own grumpy old lady (reaching nine years of age this Spring) has a streak of red in her coat, but otherwise she has the dirt camouflage like most cats. Getting comfortable with age, I’d say, a bit on the buffy side, but ever so gracious.
She’d probably like your Boss. She tends to be attracted by the scuffy look. Her old “friend” who she used to run with when we first came to our current abode, was covered in scars from ear to tail and he had areas of no fur at all. But he was old, and has probably gone to the eternal hunting grounds by now. Her current boo is a fine balck and white gentleman. He sits politely and waits for her every morning when she wakes me up, and they run around a bit in the field behind our backyard before she comes back to have her breakfast tuna.

This boy is still a fully-equipped boy … going to get his worries removed this month, if we’ve got the money. Then, he might be a fit companion.
