I shot these though a huge window, luckily quite clean. I had the camera with me, because of the sun, as I went out to move the car for the ploughing chaps. I had thought to make a few pictures while I was out, but thought better of it; the temp was -6°F, and I rather wanted to keep my fingers. But after I got inside, this window presented itself, and I seized the moment. These are the only ones that worked out well; windows are sneaky things, always slipping a reflection in where you can’t see it.
Anyway, here they are:
Considering the difficulties, they’re not too bad. I had some troubles that Sami mentions, inadvertently twiddling knobs and buttons because the camera seems designed with tiny-fingered Asians in mind, but I managed to figure the problem out before all was lost.
Cheers!

Odd way to spell dry. But no, quite wet… *whistles nonchalantly*

I looked at -6 and it didn’t look as cold. Then I payed attention to F and realised it is about -20C :insane:
Nice to see some blue skies, after all

Tuesday we are going for highs of 16°F to lows of 8°F. 😯 That’s really cold for the mid US east coast region. They are saying that it hasn’t been this cold in twenty years. 😮

13°F today, and headed for the deep freeze. I got a couple quick errands done before it gets to the point that the car won’t start. 13° ain’t bad, but it’s not pleasant. I’m looking forward to the football game in Green Bay this afternoon; it’s going to make the Ice Bowl seem like a walk in the park. They’re predicting wind chills of -45°F in the stadium. Those boys won’t need concussions to make ’em stupid, their brains will freeze.
I lived on the Jersey coast for a few years … we used to get snow, but not a lot, and it never got really cold.

Beautiful photos – as always! If only you could come here and make the rain drenched scene in Britain look beautiful.

Thanks, Harry … I’d love to do just that, or at least try, but I have an invalid that I look after, and besides, I sometimes have to borrow money from the church-mice. I am a pensioner, as I believe you folk say, so my horizons are limited.

Nice shots dW. Yeah, I know what you mean about keeping your fingers when it’s this cold. I went to the grocery store the other evening and forgot to put my gloves back on when I left to go back to the car. I’ll swear the temp dropped 15 degrees in the hour I was in the store! Had to warm up my hands before I could drive!
You know what I keep looking at in the last one…..there is a semi circle and a dot that a twig as made in the snow. It’s like a little signature. 🙂

Thanks, Pam … I saw a shot of a sign in Fargo that said -19°F on the telly night before last … I reckon you’re huddled ’round the old Franklin stove about now. Being new to the area, you haven’t developed the reflex of putting on your gloves as you approach an outside door. It’s built-in to us old-timers. You could go to Ukraine … I think they’ve set Kiev on fire to keep warm.
I noticed the same marks as I was shooting … I was careful to get them into the shot.
